McKesson’s oncology arm, Ontada, delivers technology solutions to enhance patient outcomes and streamline clinical workflows. As a Senior UX Team Lead (Research and Design), I led multiple high-impact initiatives across the oncology EHR/EMR, billing, and revenue lifecycle domains. I worked alongside clinicians, geneticists, operations teams, and executive stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions that improved care, simplified complex workflows, and safeguarded revenue.

CRAFTING SOLUTIONS ACCROSS THE ONCOLOGY ECOSYSTEM

At McKesson, I supported various mission-critical initiatives. My goal was to enhance both provider and operational experiences in a high-stakes environment. I applied human-centered design and systems thinking to guide:

  • Persona development across clinical, financial, and operational roles.
  • Multi-level stakeholder engagement.
  • Scaling of internal design systems.
  • End-to-end design of experiences for EHR, billing, and RCM platforms.

SCALING RESEARCH OPS

Beyond individual projects, I laid the foundation for consistent, high-quality research across teams and workstreams.

  • Established repeatable research frameworks to ensure speed and rigor across initiatives Led planning and facilitation of cross-functional research sprints.
  • Created research templates and documentation standards to support scalability Developed personas based on multi-source synthesis, which were adopted across several teams.

EXPANDING THE DESIGN SYSTEM

To enable consistency and efficiency across clinical and operational tools, I actively contributed to growing and evolving McKesson’s design system.

  • Identified gaps in component libraries through project implementation.
  • Collaborated with designers and engineers to standardize UI across products.
  • Advocated for accessibility and responsive behaviors in clinical contexts.
  • Ensured the design system scaled to meet the demands of diverse tools and users.

Enabling Faster, Smarter Decisions Through EHR Optimization

Oncology EHR/EMR Features and Enhancements

This project focused on improving the clinical experience within iKnowMed®, McKesson’s oncology-specific EHR platform. I led the redesign of the Clinical Profile and adjacent workflows to reduce friction, elevate key patient insights, and better support real-time decision-making at the point of care.

  • Partnered with oncologists, care teams, and operations to map high-friction workflows.
  • Redesigned the Clinical Profile layout to surface the most relevant patient data faster.
  • Improved usability across mobile and desktop environments.
  • Streamlined access to treatment history, social data, and next-step actions.
  • Conducted rapid validation and usability testing with frontline clinical users.
Notable Outcomes at Scale:
  • iKnowMed supports 2,500+ oncology providers and 1.5M+ active patients.
  • Contributed to over 1M+ clinical decisions annually.
  • Increased satisfaction and adoption by aligning the experience with real-world workflows.

Designing a Business-Wide Tool to Safeguard Revenue

Revenue Lifecycle Management System

This project expanded beyond the clinic to support the full revenue lifecycle, including payer interactions and financial workflows. I led discovery and design of a scalable solution in record time.

  • Led competitive analysis to inform product strategy and roadmap.
  • Conducted SME interviews and iterative validation sessions.
  • Collaborated with product and dev to launch MVP under tight deadlines.
  • Solution received exec praise for safeguarding millions in revenue.

IMPACT

The collective impact of these projects helped McKesson:

  • Enhance care delivery through personalized EHR features.
  • Improve billing accuracy and financial health of clinics.
  • Create enterprise-wide tools that secured revenue and improved scalability.

Even without precise quantifiable metrics, my work was repeatedly recognized by clinical and business leadership for its influence on outcomes, usability, and organizational success.
